Welcome to my website. I am a 27 year-old magazine editor and freelance journalist based in the Middle East.
I am currently an associate editor for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia in Dubai and was formerly the editor in chief of Ohlala Magazine, a luxury fashion and lifestyle title available across Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Qatar.
Starting off as a freelance journalist in London after completing my MA in Magazine Journalism at City University, London, I’ve written for Marie Claire UK, The London Evening Standard, The Telegraph, The Guardian and BuzzFeed UK while writing millennial blog posts on The Huffington Post UK. In 2014 I was shortlisted for the PPA’s Most Promising Postgraduate Journalist Award for my investigative feature on Female Genital Mutilation.
In my current role I interview, write, sub and organise Harper’s Bazaar’s main issue as well as its supplements including Harper’s Bazaar Bride and Harper’s Bazaar Junior. I am also part of the House of Bazaar 2017 coordination team at Mall of the Emirates.
In my previous role I managed the production of three editions of Ohlala and was principally involved in the fashion, features and lifestyle side of the editorial. I have reported from Paris during Fashion Weeks, interviewed prolific designers, directed photoshoots, reviewed hotels from Rome to Monte Carlo to Dubai and hosted brand events in the region.
I am also a certified crisis counsellor for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse and volunteer for Women’s Crisis Care International in Bahrain. In this role I am on hospital and hotline duty several times a month. I am also involved in public engagement through community outreach by giving culturally sensitive talks on reversing gender stereotypes, feminism, healthy relationships and myths surrounding rape to audiences ranging from ministers to school students.
